Field work 2017

The second phase of the Master Tourism Destination Management consists of a three month field work abroad in the Asia-Pacific region. Every year the destinations range from a city destination, a developing destination and a developed destination. In the year 2017 the chosen destinations were: Melbourne (city), Sri Lanka (developing) and Bali (developed). The goal of this phase is to put the knowledge and skills learned in phase one into practice in the "field".

The assignment is to carry out research in each destination for a month, each from a different stakeholder perspective, namely Micro & Small enterprises (MSE), Medium & Large enterprises (MLE) and Public Organisations (PO). This research is carried out in different teams of students, so called 'research groups'. The overall goal is to get involved in and to get familiar with the continuously divers and complex contextual reality in destination management in 'urban', 'emerging' and 'established' tourism destinations in order to deal with actual and upcoming challenges for tourism destinations all over the world. In short, the assignment is stated as the following:"Asses the current strategic position and reveal the future development potential in order to advice about effective interventions to achieve the 'preferred' future and to strengthen the strategic position."

The following tabs are devoted to the field work carried out in the different destinations, but also the travel experiences that were created in our free time at these amazing (tourist) places!
