New York City

"The Big Apple" or the "City That Never Sleeps". New York City has several nick names and is known for being the most famous and biggest city of the United States. I could write a whole book about New York City, but I think most of you will know the ins and outs of this remarkable urban jungle. The city contains of five districts or so called 'boroughs', existing of: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island. The Island Manhattan is probably the most popular, as this is the part you will see in many movies, which will show the many famous sky scrapers, the luxurious shops on Fifth Avenue and the huge 'heart' of the city: Central Park. Not to forget Times Square where all the lights and billboards make you feel like you're in a different world. However, also SoHo is a remarkable part of the city, as this is the place where you can admire beautiful architecture and creative minds come together as art galleries and fashion models characterise this part of the city. Also the iconic features like The Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, Rockefeller center, The 9/11 memorial, the yellow cabs and the economic heart of New York Wallstreet shape the city. Furthermore, New York is also known as a very cultural city, including tourist attractions like Chinatown or Little Italy, which make you feel like you're in a whole different city! Going on a trip to New York City is probably on the bucket list of many, and I can imagine why. However, the connection between me and New York City comes from a personal story, which you can find below.

Why I love New York

I have been born and raised in Eindhoven, but baptised in New York City. This city feels like my second home and between my baptism as a baby and now being 23 years old I believe I've been in this destination for more than 10 times. As my dad traded New York City for Eindhoven to live with my mom in the Netherlands, he left the rest of his family behind. Therefore, for as long as I can remember we visited New York City, for the reason being "visiting friends and relatives" as my grandparents, uncles and aunts and cousins still live there. However, besides visiting them we have seen most of the city and done all the touristy stuff you can imagine. I love the diversity of New York and the many cool places it consists of. For me, as Jay Z and Alicia Keys sing it"there is no place in the world that could compare". For me, New York has it all and I'm proud to be able to call it my second home.
